Supporting Apprentices at the IMI Skill Auto Qualifiers

Over the last few months Apprentices from colleges around the UK have been putting their skills to the test, in the hope of winning a place in this year’s finals, to be held at World Skills UK- Live, 15-17th November at the NEC
In both the Automotive Qualifiers, held at the Ford Training Academy- Daventry, and the Heavy Vehicle Qualifiers, held at Scania Training Centre – near Loughborough, the apprentices were challenged on a selection of issue brakes, transmission, general diagnostic, technical and electrical.

After tough competition numbers have been whittled down to the talented finalists, to be announced on Monday 10th September.

David Massie, the Skills Competition Manager was delighted by the standard of this years competitors “Once again our competitors excelled during the qualifying stages, rising to the challenges we set and demonstrating they have the skills needed to move forward in their careers. The host venues at Ford and Scania provided outstanding facilities and the support from Pro-Align and our other sponsors all contributed to delivering an outstanding experience for the competitors, which hopefully inspired them to be the best they can be. The 2018 final at the NEC is going to be closely fought event and I’m looking forward to seeing who comes through on top. ”

A special mention must go to the colleges for the support and encouragement given to all their apprentices.
